One of the most frustrating aspects of running a small business is when you miss out on an opportunity with an existing customer because they say, “I didn’t know you did that!”
It happens across industries. There are two main reasons why an existing customer might say, “…if I’d known you rented that item, I would have hired it from you.”
- The supplier has not done a good enough job over time to inform the customer of their full range of services
- The customer pigeon-holes the supplier and think the supplier only sells what the customer is buying
The reality is that both are true to a greater or lesser degree. So, once in a while it is right and proper that we write a short article that brings together all of our inventory in one place.
